Fruity & Smelly USB Flash Drives by Microdia

Smell the Technology

Orange, strawberry, grape, and green apple are the scents of today’s technology. USB flash drives have come a long way, but they have now taken an unforeseen spin. Microdia (maker of flash drives), out of Hong Kong, has just introduced its Flash-Key Fruit-A-Roma USB drive, (a.k.a., a smelly flash drive). Why would anyone need a smelly flash drive? My best guess would be to freshen their pocket, locker, car, or bag (maybe?). usb flash drives with a fruity smell

But, this probably leaves a lot of you wondering, why in the world someone really need a smelly flash drive? Brad Maurer, Sales and Marketing Director at Microdia, says people need them because they are fun and enjoyable. Maurer also claims that they will be a hit all around the world, which I would sadly have to agree with. Sadly, because the smell should not be what people are looking for in a drive, it should be the quality and size of the drive. But now that flash drives are being carried on school campuses everywhere, and teenage kids simply need the newest of everything, they are not that far off the beaten path. Smelly pens and pencils have been around for awhile, so I guess it was only right to come out with smelly flash drives.

Smelly drives are a good sign for the flash drive industry. Because industries use to struggle to get people to recognize that flash drives are great devices, but now the problem has moved on to what color, size, or scent the customer needs. Flash drives are a hit with or without a smell, but the real question is, “can you smell the technology?”
