Bulk Flash Drives: The Incredible Bulk!

The Incredible Bulk! Argggh!

I bought my first flash drive back at the dawn of the new Millennium. Seven years have nearly passed in full now, and, while I was ahead of my time with the 256MB capacity way back when, I couldn’t have ever dreamed that one day folks would be thirsting for a trusted source for thousands of these little buggers. But the time is now for bulk flash drives. In fact, we’re seeing more and more 2 and 4GB orders believe it or not in the several thousand unit level… for one company! So what’s this telling us? We think it’s nearing the mainstream explosion of “the Incredible Bulk.” Read on and I’ll enlighten ya.

Tradeshow exhibitors, meeting planners, for profits, non-profits, schools, government agencies, universities, big business, ma and pa business, musicians, rich folks with nothing else to do but buy hundreds of flash drives with their net worth preloaded on it for distribution at the local millionaire club… they all are jumping on board the incredible bulk ordering of custom flash drives. To the point that we know the “mainstreaming” of both flash drive usage and use of custom bulk flash drives for promotion has hit.

Even just a year ago when we had a team of sales gurus attempt an outbound calling bulk flash drive campaign, it was depressing to find out how few people even knew a) what a flash drive was or b) what many custom bulk flash drives could do to enhance their communication and brand awareness/acceptance. As one of those gurus on the phones day in and day out, I can recall trying to explain to the person on the other end what a flash drive was. Ugggh. I’m glad those days are over.

The explosion in popularity of custom bulk flash drives is mostly due to one word – time. Trends, acceptance of technology especially, take time. One day many years back (the person and date continues to be argued…but anywhere from 1998 to 2000 in general) someone first used the flash drive and said “Wow! This is awesome! Now I don’t have to…”. Well, here we are seven years into the “Wows” and finding that the good word about the functionality of flash drives is not only out, but out in force. Then you throw in the “slap your logo on a flash drive and watch as people use the drive every day, wherever they go, promoting my brand!” factor and that’s what we call the “epiphany” point. The point at which all the people who most likely knew the value of a flash drive all these years, probably even used one, finally figured out that it would be a great idea to put their brand on a product that is proven to show wide and increasing usage.

But don’t worry. While we have certainly enjoyed many experiments over the years to help us become the foremost provider of bulk flash drives, we don’t think our exposure to all the technology has left us susceptible to transforming into a large, green mass of angst. On the contrary, we like to think we are warm-fuzzy ball of knowledge on all things flash driven.

I would like to use flash drives for my business cards. The price is the most important factor. We plan on putting on a menu that gives a presentation of our program and leaves space for the client to use for their personal information. We would put the information on the drive and could even put on my logo and information in a permanate sticker. Thus far I have not found a economic resourse to make this affordable. We could purchase 100 to 500 at a time if the price is right. Right would be cheap.
