And in this corner … Flash Drive vs CD

“And in this corner……. Compact Disk, the 1.2 ounce former Heavy Memory Champion back to try to regain the title from the Fast loading- hard case… FLASH DRIVE!!!!!”

Boxing USB Drive versus CDROMThis week I have had quite a few questions about using a CD as a marketing tool over the flash drive. Any of you who read these articles know that I have a passion for the power and versatility of flash technology. Look I can also be impartial at times…..but this is not one of them.

I understand that CDs are less expensive and easier to use. I know you are thinking “they are both easy what are you talking about you silly man you!” Truth is you would be surprised at the number of people who have said “I have one of those things but I don’t know where it is supposed to go.” Yes flash drives cost more but that’s like comparing a piece of paper to a computer. Yep computers are more expensive, but you can only use a piece of paper once!

The argument is truly silly if you think about it. CDs allow you to burn one presentation on them, put one label on them, and after viewing the contents odds are a consumer will pitch it, because after being seen once the CD is a digital pamphlet and nothing more.

The usb flash drive on the other hand has an external logo, just like the CD, has a preloaded presentation, just like the CD, but has extra memory and storage to allow the customer to use and reuse for their own purpose. That makes it valuable!

So why would you want to spend money on a low level solution like a CD only to waste that money you think your saving on more advertising because you’re not reaching people, when you could INVEST your money in a plan like flash advertising, which keeps your product and company in the consumers mind every time they go to get their music and files off that nifty gift they got from you, all the while thinking “hey those guys really have it together to be able to give me a flash drive.”

“…….FD sends a 480 mbps load at CD……BLAM!!!!!………CD is sent spinning…The Ref shouts [Reboot] in 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Ctrl Alt Delete!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Flash holds his title to fight another day!!!!”
